I am a husband, father of five, and homeowner, trying to keep everything running and in good repair. Sometimes it feels like i’m “deep in the trenches” trying to make sure all the cars are running great, the lawn is mowed, weeds “whacked”, and the walls are flat and have all their paint.
People really struggle with home maintenance and home improvement projects. It seems that within just a few decades, skills considered commonplace have become remarkably uncommon. When I find another guy in the office who patched a hole in his drywall, changed his own oil, or replaced a heating element in his home water heater it makes me happy to know that there are still a few brethren who believe these activities are not “dark arts” relegated to generations long ago or professional service companies. These are things every homeowner should be able to do.
I’d like to share my experiences with you from utter failure to triumph as I have tackled these projects. I want you to have the same level of confidence to say “I don’t need that extended warranty”, “I don’t need to call the service company”, “I can do it myself.”
Because you CAN do it with confidence… and as you learn… you will be faster, better, and more efficient than the “pros”. So lets tackle some projects. My goal is to help you take the next step towards Doing It Yourself.
